Phoenix Midwife has been Indigenous Birth’s primary sustainer since 2019. This is Indigenous Birth founder Marinah Farrell’s personal midwifery practice that has always served the community with direct services, education, training and advocacy.
Phoenix Midwife is a for profit that has always operated in not for profit ways both in Arizona and New Mexico with a long standing record for community service.
Phoenix Midwife was recently awarded a large community grant in 2022 by Maricopa County in a rare funding decision to award a for-profit with a large Federal subrecipient grant in recognizing the decades of community and not for profit work being done by Phoenix Midwife.
Phoenix Midwife continues to work for Indigenous Birth by providing facilitation, consultation and other services as well as continuing to be a woman of color owned small business since 2012.
phoenix Allies for Community Health (PACH)
Co-Founded by Indigenous Birth founder Marinah Farrell, PACH provides medical home to medically
underserved individuals across the Valley through comprehensive services. PACH is the third braid of Marinah’s work with dedicated services from Indigenous Birth and Phoenix Midwife to ensure community care from babies to elders.
Phoenix Allies for Community Health is a volunteer-run, free primary care clinic. In 2025, our 14th year of service to the community they have served over thousands of patients through medical visits, lab visits, and distributed over 20,000 pounds of free food to patients and the
community through our food pantry. We are dedicated to providing care to uninsured and underserved
populations, relying solely on community donations and grants to continue our mission.
Elephant circle
Elephant Circle is our fiscal sponsor and long time collaborator with Phoenix Midwife and Indigenous Birth.
Inspired by elephants who give birth within a circle of support, we envision a world where all people have a circle of support for the entire perinatal period. Birth justice occurs when everyone is equally capable of self-determination during the perinatal period and their self-determination is supported and amplified. To achieve this, we will need both the HOW and the WHAT of birth justice. We will need strategies for tackling systems of power and oppression and we will need strategies for change and resilience. We will also need expertise in health systems, legal systems and the perinatal period. This is how we are approaching this work and we are happy to help you expand your capacity to bring about birth justice.
